I'm by no means a religious person. But to quote the originator of one of the world's most prominent, violent religions (Crusades etc.) "the meek shall inherit the earth".

If you look at a lot of the Indigenous news outlets and publications, you'll see that they often refer to an Indigenous prophecy that the time for their culture ascending is on the horizon, but not before much worse times come and befall them and the rest of the humans in this world. And that is directly because of the violence you mention.
