Nice article, Markham. If people really want to learn more about the possibilities of epigenetics and how that might affect the traits they received and may pass along, I highly recommend reading Carl Zimmer’s book, “She Has Her Mother’s Laugh”.

When I did my doctoral research on biochemical modifications of the histones (proteins which package our DNA) in the late 1990s, we already knew that there were certain modifications which were heritably passed along from one generation to the next and it’s only now that we are beginning to understand some of the ramifications of these modifications.

As always, there’s just so much more to learn and verify and understand!
