Yes, Jessica, I agree that teachers are totally undervalued and mistreated etc. What I wonder is why they don't do what teachers and other workers in the past did?
My father was a high school teacher in the mid 20th century and he was outraged at what he had to put up with and with what all the other teachers had to put up with. So what did he do? He formed a teachers union, they threatened strike (maybe they even did go on strike. I don't actually remember) and guess what? Things improved significantly.
So why is there no mention of unionizing and walking off the job until these abhorrent conditions are addressed? Why have teachers dismissed this as a valid way to challenge the administration?
It's beyond me. And it's so simple. In idea, anyway.
So do it. See what happens. Form a union and go on strike.
At this point, you have nothing to lose since you've already lost most of it, anyway.
